Competition Winners Make the Papers

The topic for the short story competition was "King or Queen for A Day". Entrants wrote a short story about how they would spend their day if they were a King or Queen.
The short story had to be a maximum of 400 words and had to contain at least 3 facts about the Queen and her role as Head of the Commonwealth

5 of the 6 short story winners were awarded their prizes personally by Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr Martin Williamson, they were;

Braydon Stone, 8, Ridgeway School, Wellington - Wellington City Life - South
Daniel Burke, 12, Chisnall Intermediate School - Christchurch Mail
Rachael Haythornwaite, 12, Chisnall Intermediate School - Christchurch Mail
Lauren Harvey, 9, Cashmere Primary School - Christchurch Star
Chelsea Evans, 11, Cashmere Primary School - Christchurch Star

Unfortunately, due to time restrictions, Mr Williamson was not able to present the 6th prize winner, Maya Takahashi, from Queenstown her award.

The British High Commission congratulates all the winners and would like to thank all the entrants on their fantastic stories. It was an extemely hard competition to judge.
